Introducing Primary Students to the Design Mindset

In our recent Design unit, our MS 2 students were required to create an innovative pet house. This activity is part of our Design curriculum, which involves brainstorming, sketching and planning in order to fulfil the required task perfectly. The project emphasised sustainability, durability, aesthetic representation and variety of features to ensure pet comfort and safety.

In order to enrich this unique learning experience, we invited our primary 4 students to visit and observe the progress of our project, The visit aimed to familiarise our primary students with the concept of Design and to promote their critical thinking. Our MS students eagerly explained the design process including planning and practical information related to the product, while the primary students observed and asked insightful questions and shared their excitement. This visit was beneficial for primary students since they acquired a better understanding of the design process, Likewise MS students gained a sense of accomplishment and confidence from presenting their work. This visit emphasised the creativity and dedication of our secondary students, while also highlighting the collaborative and shared passion for learning within our school community.
