Creativity is not a subject confined to a classroom and / or limited to the arts. Creativity is a language of expression, a pathway to discovery, and a cornerstone of how we prepare students to engage with the world.
Ms. Parinaz Faghihi, our Visual Arts teacher, has transformed the corridors of our ground floor into a living gallery that proudly showcases students’ Visions in Bloom. Ms. Parinas and students collaborated in the curation of this effort, which brings together the remarkable work of Middle School, High School, and IBDP students. Thanks to Ms. Parinaz’ guidance, students were able to put together a diverse and deeply compelling collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and mixed media projects that radiate vision, skill, and personal voice.
What makes Visions in Bloom so moving is not just the sheer talent on display, or the technical proficiency and range of artistic techniques are genuinely impressive. What stands out even more is the freedom that each student was given to explore, imagine, and express. Every piece tells a story. Every work reflects a journey of thought, and of emotion.
From abstract explorations of identity to bold commentaries on environmental urgency, from delicate nature studies to surreal depictions of dreams and memories, the exhibition pulses with authenticity. Our students have not simply made art; they have created meaning. They have taken a stand on issues that matter to them, using their medium of choice as a platform to speak, to provoke, to celebrate, and to question.
Some works invite us to slow down and notice beauty. Others challenge us to confront discomfort. Many draw us into private worlds that reveal the richness of the imagination when it is trusted and nurtured. In this space, there are no "right answers", only possibilities, process, and perspective.
Visitors will be welcome to wander through the exhibition as of June 13 and until June 20, 2025. We hope that they connect with the emotional depth and intentionality of our students’ work. In Ms. Parinaz’ words, “it is one thing to teach technique; it is another to create the conditions in which students can connect that technique with purpose.” That is exactly what our team of artists has achieved.
At BIS North Campus, we remain steadfast in our belief that the arts are essential. Arts are the heartbeat of a holistic education, offering students a powerful lens through which to understand themselves and others.
Visions in Bloom is more than an exhibition. It is a declaration of what becomes possible when young people are given the space, the support, and the trust to express who they are and what they believe in.
As we continue to grow as a community of learners and creators, we reaffirm our commitment to honouring students’ artistry, encouraging their boldest ideas, and celebrating the beauty of becoming.
