Definition of Learning at BIS South Campus

Learning at BIS is an inclusive, lifelong process that fosters growth through the development of practical, social, and emotional skills. In a safe, interdisciplinary environment, students deepen their conceptual understanding, reflect on their learning, and embrace mistakes. This process empowers them to apply knowledge and contribute meaningfully to society.

DP

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepare students for success at university and life beyond.

The programme has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities as it prepares students for effective participation in a rapidly evolving and increasingly global society.

Accredited since 2022

BIS is proudly accredited by NEASC New England Association of Schools and Colleges

In 2022 BIS achieved accreditation by NEASC, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
This was in addition to the school’s long-term strategy of remaining a full IB Continuum school.
NEASC partners over 1500 international schools and colleges; attaining accreditation by them validates the BIS approach as a key international school and ensures we stay aligned with the standards and methods required of a modern, progressive education. Furthermore, the approach and philosophy of NEASC, and their ACE Learning protocol, compliments that of the IB. Thus, these two accreditations and their pedagogical principles,  provide an excellent fit with each other and, combined, form the best possible basis for our students’ learning.

BIS High School students (grades 9 to 12) follow our standard International Baccalaureate curriculum, and will accumulate credits as they pass each year’s courses. These credits will be included on the student’s final transcript and will count towards their final NEASC accredited High School Diploma, which is awarded at the end of Grade 12, together with the IB Diploma.

BIS’s work with NEASC continues in order to ensure full alignment with the standards of their ACE Learning Protocol; ACE stands for Architecture, Culture, Ecology, and its principles form the basis for a demanding and progressive approach to the needs of a future-focused education.
